Support for the community

Beyond building a new school building, we plan to support the educators and community in order to uplift the current and next generation.

  • Educating the educators- Currently, Rose and her other staff have received their matric(equivalent of high school degree) and taken individual courses in Early Childhood Education. Rose would like to pursue a university degree in Education, but cannot afford that currently. The other staff would like further education, but are also limited by finances. We would like to raise funds to support these endeavors.

  • Food security- Many of the students come to school hungry and rely on the school to provide breakfast and lunch, and they may not get dinner. Rose is currently enrolled in a food security educational program that she will complete in December. She has done wonders transforming part of the school grounds into a garden and also taking another plot of land to grow food. We would like to help continue these amazing projects with financial support.

  • Teaching community members new skills- We have seen success in our area of teaching community members new skills(like, sewing, knitting, bead crafts, etc.) that can then be translated into income. We would like to use the school building as an educational center to allow for community classes. We ultimately would like to make these items available for sale on our website to raise funds.

  • Ongoing educational support- Rose currently runs aftercare at the preschool in order to allow parents to work longer hours to make income to support their family. She also runs tutoring and a book club for older children. We would like to continue support for these continuing educational enrichment activities for the older children in the community.
